AI omnibus clears the Council
Final Council approval
The Council gave final approval to changes simplifying and streamlining AI Act rules. The revised timetable places specified high-risk requirements at 2 December 2027 and product-related high-risk requirements at 2 August 2028. The package also addresses AI systems used to generate non-consensual intimate material. June’s adoption still needs to be distinguished from the later entry-into-force date.

The Malaysian lens
For Malaysian AI suppliers with EU exposure, our interpretation is that a revised deadline calls for a controlled update to the compliance plan. It does not establish that transparency, privacy, consumer protection or contractual obligations have all been postponed. Different duties can operate on different clocks.
