CEPEJ releases its 2024 evaluation
Report published
The European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice published its 2024 evaluation cycle, based on 2022 data. The report examines judicial resources, professionals, legal aid, efficiency and technology across participating systems. Its publication year and measurement year must not be confused, and differences between national systems matter when interpreting comparisons.
The Malaysian lens
For Malaysia, this is a comparative research reference, not a direct estimate of domestic legal costs. Our reading: meaningful access-to-justice analysis should distinguish public court spending, legal-aid provision, private fees and case duration. These are different measures. This report alone cannot support a claim that high legal spending causes economic collapse.
