Retail ECF limit rises
Guidelines amended
The SC increased the retail investor limit for equity crowdfunding from RM5,000 to RM10,000 per issuer. This is a per-issuer limit, not a guarantee of suitability or return, and should be read alongside other applicable investment limits and safeguards.

Human creativity remains central to copyright
Policy report
The Copyright Office’s second AI report says AI-assisted work can qualify for protection where a human determines sufficient expressive elements. Merely supplying prompts is not enough. The report explains the Office’s position; it is not a new international copyright statute.

The Malaysian lens
Our Malaysian lens connects two founder concerns: raising money and documenting intellectual property. A higher investment cap should not replace risk assessment. An AI-generated asset should not be promised as exclusively owned without examining human contributions and the governing jurisdiction.
QUESTION TO ASK
Can the company substantiate both its investment disclosures and the rights it promises in its creative assets?
Watch / next step
Keep separate records of investment eligibility and creative authorship, including meaningful human edits and third-party inputs.
